International Student Orientation Week prepares new overseas students for life and study at Luma University before the main Welcome Week programme begins. Activities run from 21 to 25 September 2026 and include immigration compliance sessions, bank account setup guidance, campus tours and social events introducing students to peers from their region and academic school.

The International Office delivers mandatory briefings on visa responsibilities, attendance monitoring and working hours restrictions for Student visa holders. Police registration guidance is provided where applicable. Academic skills workshops cover British academic conventions, referencing expectations and participation in seminars.

Optional excursions include a walking tour of Luma town centre, a trip to Birmingham's Bullring shopping district, and an evening welcome dinner on campus. Airport pickup from Birmingham Airport is available for students who registered in advance before 1 September.

All new international students holding a CAS from Luma must attend the immigration compliance session on 21 September. Registration for optional activities opens in August through the applicant portal. Accommodation in halls is available from 19 September for international students who booked the extended arrival contract.
