Printing and Scanning

Print, copy and scan services in Luma University Library.

Print credits

Each student receives an annual print credit of £15 loaded automatically at enrolment. Additional credit can be purchased online in £5 increments through the print portal linked from the library website. Credits roll over within the academic year but expire at the end of August.

Printing costs are 5p per side black and white A4, 15p colour A4, with higher rates for A3. Duplex printing is encouraged and charged as two sides.

How to print

Send documents to the print queue from open-access computers or upload via the web print service from personal laptops. Release jobs at any library multifunction device using your ID card. Jobs remain queued for 24 hours before automatic deletion.

Poster printing for academic presentations is available through the Digital Learning Hub print bureau at separate rates—book three days ahead for large format jobs.

Scanning and copying

Scan to email is free from library devices. Copying charged at the same rates as printing. Copyright regulations limit copying to one chapter or 10 per cent of a work unless licenced otherwise—library staff advise on copyright for dissertation and thesis reproduction.

Self-service binding machines on the ground floor accept payment by card for dissertation submission preparation.

Sustainability

Print reduction campaigns encourage digital submission where academic departments permit. Default printer settings are duplex and black and white. Recycle misprints in bins beside each device; the library reports monthly usage to faculties to support awareness of printing costs.
