Campus Facilities

Teaching spaces, social areas, catering and facilities across the Edgewater campus.

Teaching and learning spaces

The Edgewater campus spans 42 acres on the edge of Luma town centre, combining 1960s academic buildings with recent developments including the Digital Learning Hub and Scholars Village. Lecture theatres range from 50-seat seminar rooms to a 400-seat auditorium in the Great Hall.

Laboratories in science, engineering and health disciplines provide industry-standard equipment. The Clinical Simulation Suite in the School of Health replicates hospital ward environments for nursing and paramedic training.

Social and catering spaces

Catering outlets include the main refectory serving hot meals and salads, a café in the library, Costa Coffee in the students' union, and Grab and Go kiosks in academic buildings. Halal, vegetarian and vegan options are available daily; allergen information is displayed at each outlet.

Social spaces include the campus green, the union bar and lounge, and informal seating areas in the Digital Learning Hub. Outdoor tables are popular during warmer months for studying and socialising.

Technology and IT

Over 600 open-access computers are available in the library, Digital Learning Hub and faculty IT suites. Students connect personal devices to eduroam Wi-Fi across campus. Printing and scanning services operate through the library; each student receives an annual print credit topped up according to programme requirements.

The IT Service Desk in the library foyer provides hardware loan, software support and password resets. Opening hours align with library term-time schedules.

Chaplaincy and quiet spaces

The Chaplaincy offers a multifaith quiet room, prayer facilities and pastoral conversations regardless of faith or belief. The Wellbeing Hub consolidates counselling and support services in a dedicated building adjacent to the campus green.

Designated quiet zones in the library and academic buildings support focused study. The campus map identifies these areas for students seeking low-distraction environments.
