Luma University welcomed 3,847 visitors across two open days held on 5 and 12 July 2026, surpassing the previous record set in 2024 by nearly 600 attendees. Admissions teams reported strong interest in nursing, computer science, education and law programmes, reflecting national trends in applicant preferences as UCAS data for the 2026 cycle begins to emerge.
Visitors toured the Edgewater campus, including the recently opened Digital Learning Hub, Beacon Court accommodation, and the Sports and Wellbeing Centre. Student ambassadors from across all four faculties guided families through subject-specific talks, laboratory demonstrations and interactive workshops. The School of Health hosted simulated clinical skills sessions that proved particularly popular with prospective nursing and paramedic science applicants.
Director of Student Recruitment David Okoye noted that many attendees travelled from Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Coventry and further afield. "We saw a noticeable increase in visitors comparing Luma with larger city universities. Families appreciated our compact campus, the sense of community, and the straightforward transport links via Luma railway station," he said.
Feedback collected through post-event surveys indicated that 91 per cent of respondents rated their visit as "good" or "excellent", with campus facilities and student ambassador interactions receiving the highest scores. The university has added two further applicant days in September and October to accommodate continued demand.
